Noah's Week

The last few weeks have been very busy for us. I am putting in more hours at work so I am having a hard time keeping up with the blog. Noah is finishing up the end of his homeschooling year as well as more activities at the local school. And Justin is just hanging in there doing his best to teach and entertain over 600 teenage students 5 days a week.

So this week I am focusing on Noah's activities.
Last week there was a throwing competition for the 7th grade. There are seven 7th grade classes that participated in the competition. On the first day Noah's class tied for second place!!! Since there was not a clear 2nd place winner there would need to be a playoff the next day. On the second day Noah's class made third place! Way to go class 701 you did a good job.

Because Noah's class is 701 they are in the front row.

The goal of the game is to knock down as many of the number tiles as possible. I can't remember but I think Noah knocked over two or three on the first day and maybe one on the second day.

 Go! Go! Go! Noah

On Friday evening the schools English drama group put on several plays. They performed Alice in Wonderland, The Three Little Wolves and a Say No To Drugs Dragon dance for the community. I shared Noah's dragon dance with a few people but for those of you that haven't seen it yet you can find here.

Chiayi and Yunlin

This past weekend we went to Chiayi and Yunlin counties to see where Adrian is working as a soldier. We started out early that morning and our first stop was for some breakfast.  It was a rest area that is very close to a small mall. There is shopping and restaurants inside. We had a very unhealthy but delicious breakfast.

You can see Justin opening it in a video, sorry it was filmed sideways.

After breakfast we stopped at a rose garden! There were so many flowers to look at and everyone was so very different and beautiful.

They had roses of every size and color! The roses that Noah is pointing to are in full bloom and about the size of a dime.

This dog's name is Lucky. He is a full time resident at the truancy school, one of the schools that Adrian works at. He is around children all day so he was very comfortable with Noah. Oh, and he will even do tricks but only if you have food otherwise forget it, he doesn't work for free.

After our stops at the school we went to Alishan to see a temple, the mountains and other cool things. It decided to rain right after we arrived so we hung out in a little candy/coffee shop and sang karaoke.

Taking a quick break while we wait for the rain to stop. You can see a video of Justin and Noah singing here.

After our visit to the temple and lunch we decided to head Dongshi to visit a wetland area and see some wildlife. Unfortunately it decided to rain again so the birds that were there flew away.

After the wetlands we headed to a harbor to see some boats and a fish market. You can see videos of the fish market here. video 1  video 2

 Such a beautiful view!

This was cool to see. I wasn't brave enough to go out on the wall with the guys.

 Taiwan coast guard coming in.

Of course we had to take a break at the Tropic of Cancer marker!

At this rest stop there is also a solar exploration center. Even though the buildings were closed there was lots of exhibits to look at outside. We were able to visit every planet in the solar system!

Justin carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.

A quick stop on Saturn's rings before Noah and Justin headed to Uranus!

There were several U.S. space ships and capsules to observe.

After all of our travels for the day we settled down to an American style hamburger! Noah couldn't be more happy with our choice of dinner.
